A weekend by the water with friends

I’m not sure when this happened. The growing up. Our girls. It really does go by in a blink. I still can’t stop saying, “Emma’s 12”. Not sure if I can wrap my mind around this year’s birthday, but it came and went. This weekend we had the girls’ friends in from Houston for a visit. It had been three years almost, since they had last been together. We had a great time in the city and on the lake. Life gets busy, but I try to remember to slow it down, take it in, be thankful for the little moments.

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” -Anonymous

I love finding those moments unexpectedly in the everyday. We miss so much beauty by paying attention to the insignificant.

Bill & Tracy + 3

I can’t tell you how great it was to see these two and finally meet their beautiful kiddos. We’ve known each other since our college days and it was like a day never passed. Tracy & I had been attempting to coordinate this session for a year. It was called by weather twice and sick kiddos once…So glad we finally were able to connect this July. It was well worth the wait!! xoxo

Wine, Food & Family

This was one of the first families we met after our move to the Chicagoland area. Jean-Pierre (aka J.P.) stopped by to welcome us to the neighborhood with the most wonderful spread of cheese, meats, fruit and wine. When they asked if I would photograph their family, my mind started racing about the possibilities of this session. Teresa is a talented violinist (as well as their children). J.P. is a professor and an undeniable foodie. The conversation is anything but dull with this family and their home is as open as their hearts. Thank you guys for choosing me to capture your unique and spirited family! xo

Morning Light

The best part of being busy and working hard is that I’m out shooting {doing what we as photographers love most}, but it leaves little time for blog posts. I will be posting more from my recent sessions soon! In the meantime, I couldn’t help but post a few after location scouting this morning with my favorite assistant. Looking forward to another beautiful session tomorrow….
