Hapiart Commercial Shoot

Now that the blog has a fresh new look for 2015, I thought this would be a great time to finally share some more recent work! Late this fall, I spent the day with artist Kristi Kohut, founder of Hapiart. Kristi contacted me for a commercial shoot representing her artwork. She was being featured in various publications and needed professional images . She currently has her gorgeous, vibrant, one-of-a-kind pieces offered through Minted, West Elm and One Kings Lane. I had a fabulous time with Kristi staging her beautiful pieces and photographing her at work.

A weekend by the water with friends

I’m not sure when this happened. The growing up. Our girls. It really does go by in a blink. I still can’t stop saying, “Emma’s 12”. Not sure if I can wrap my mind around this year’s birthday, but it came and went. This weekend we had the girls’ friends in from Houston for a visit. It had been three years almost, since they had last been together. We had a great time in the city and on the lake. Life gets busy, but I try to remember to slow it down, take it in, be thankful for the little moments.

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” -Anonymous

I love finding those moments unexpectedly in the everyday. We miss so much beauty by paying attention to the insignificant.

Jessie & Adam +3

As I gear up for another busy season, I spend a lot of time doing the administrative stuff that I don’t love, but it’s a necessary evil. Files are organized and cleaned up. Taxes are completed. Equipment updated. You realize it’s time to get back to the fun stuff like sharing beautiful sessions that didn’t quite make it to the blog in a timely fashion. This family was so energetic and excited about their brand new addition. I was so flattered when Jessie called me to book the session. She is a fellow photographer and knew exactly the essence she wanted to capture. At home sessions are always near and dear to my heart. They are personal, authentic and always unique to the spirit of the family. Thanks for choosing me Jessie to capture this special time.

Connor & Katy + 2

No need to fall into the post holiday blues. I can finally share some of the great sessions I’ve been promising to post! This lovely “at home” sesh turned into a fabulous little family field trip to the Oberweis Dairy Bar. I think the kids had a great time and the look on their faces when the giant ice cream sundaes showed up was nothing short of priceless. Loved working with this family and you might just recognize Katy from The Dailey Method. She is the owner of their Northbrook location. This family’s energy was top notch! Enjoy!
