Weeping Willows, Golden Light and A Beauty

Who knew senior year would creep up so quickly… It seems like just yesterday I was pushing you in the jogging stroller, chasing you around the park and watching Lemonade Mouth with a room full of 4th graders. You always had the chubbiest (cutest ever) of cheeks, the biggest smile and loved (still) keeping your sisters in line! This year is bittersweet for sure. How did it go by so fast?! ¬†We are so proud of the young woman you’ve become! Can’t wait to see what you accomplish…Oh the places you’ll go! (GO IU;) XO, Mom

Babies, Babies, everywhere…

A little collage of recent work this summer. All I can say is, babies are clearly in the air here in Chicagoland! Off to a maternity shoot this evening with a beautiful expectant mom. Hoping the weather stays kind to us!

A weekend by the water with friends

I’m not sure when this happened. The growing up. Our girls. It really does go by in a blink. I still can’t stop saying, “Emma’s 12”. Not sure if I can wrap my mind around this year’s birthday, but it came and went. This weekend we had the girls’ friends in from Houston for a visit. It had been three years almost, since they had last been together. We had a great time in the city and on the lake. Life gets busy, but I try to remember to slow it down, take it in, be thankful for the little moments.

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” -Anonymous

I love finding those moments unexpectedly in the everyday. We miss so much beauty by paying attention to the insignificant.

Drew & Halley + 2

Earlier this winter, I had the opportunity to spend a Sunday morning with this beautiful family in the city. I walked in and could instantly feel the warmth- not only from the wood burning in the fireplace, but from the open spirit of this family. Halley and I had discussed a true “day in the life” approach to the session and I love how it turned out. You can almost smell the french toast, coffee, bacon…..and you can definitely feel the love!

Jessie & Adam +3

As I gear up for another busy season, I spend a lot of time doing the administrative stuff that I don’t love, but it’s a necessary evil. Files are organized and cleaned up. Taxes are completed. Equipment updated. You realize it’s time to get back to the fun stuff like sharing beautiful sessions that didn’t quite make it to the blog in a timely fashion. This family was so energetic and excited about their brand new addition. I was so flattered when Jessie called me to book the session. She is a fellow photographer and knew exactly the essence she wanted to capture. At home sessions are always near and dear to my heart. They are personal, authentic and always unique to the spirit of the family. Thanks for choosing me Jessie to capture this special time.
